Dark Of The Moon-2004
75th Dark of the Moon
July 15-19, 2004
Palmas de Cortez

As is typical in mid-late July, the numbers of fish decreases, but the fish get bigger.

Numerous Blue marlin were sighted, and several were hooked and lost. The 16 anglers who fished 13 cruisers caught and released 5 with the largest estimated at 300 lbs. A total of 17 bill fish were caught and released over the three day event.

There are 2 events remaining, and to date, 104 anglers have caught 262 bill-fish and 258 have been released.

It looks good on the bait scene once again, as there is a new school of flying fish. There are more 2"-5" flyers in the waters than I have ever seen. There is also a new school of Sardines, which should be ready by the Fall Dark of the Moon, October 21-25, 2004.

16 Anglers
  • 5 Blue Marlin
  • 4 Stripe Marlin
  • 5 Yellowfin Tuna
  • 2 Dorado
  • 8 Sailfish

At this time there is one room and one boat left and then the event will be full. There will be a total of 16 teams, and all of those registered on listed on our "Who's Coming" page. One single angler slot is also still available, which will fill a 2 man room/boat team.

The temperatures were very tropical and our stay was centered between two minor tropical disturbances:

The waters were calm for the most part and the breeze created by the cruisers as they trolled the lures were most welcome!

Our 2005 dates for the Dark of the Moon are now set, and will be posted shortly. Entry forms will be out by October/November this fall.
