The Numbers Continue To Mount

A total of 18 Anglers fished 19 cruisers during the three-day event.
    

Even though the fish count was down for this trip, 2003 continues to set new records. Nearly 600 fish have already been landed over the past four events, making this one of the best seasons ever.

The Marlin and Sail-Fish did not cooperate. There were lots of bill-fish, but they seemed not to be hungry and would not go for the bait presented to them. But thanks once again to the Yellow-Fin Tuna, a very respectable average of 4.78 fish per angler was attained.

Only 4 rookie anglers competed, and all 4 caught their first bill-fish.

***TOP ROOKIE***

MARK GIUSTI, Madera, CA

Mark caught and released 2 Striped Marlin and took 2 Dorado. the Dorado were caught on a free day and weighed 40 and 37 lbs.

He finished in a tie for 2nd Place Angler, but lost the coin toss to Marianne Hillsworth. (Shown here with him.)

***2nd Place Team***

Mark finished as 3rd Place Angler, and was also on the 2nd Place Team, shown here with Marianne, and fellow team mates Don Sparkman, and Rick Helmuth, from Madera, CA.
Their combined team toal was 576 points.

***TOP ANGLER***
BRUCE HILLSWORTH, Littleton, CO

Bruce took top honors by barely edging out both Mark and Marianne, with a 37 lb. dorado, which also earned him top non-bill honors, trophy, and a split of the non-bill money.

As a matter of interest, on Bruce's first Dark of the moon event a few years back, he was awarded the 1,000th angler trophy, much to his surprise.

Bruce and Marianne also won Top Team honors with 1,076 points.

Larry and Paul Cucura of Carmel, CA finished as 3rd Place Team with 500 points.

I have had to work behind the scenes for the past year as you can see in the photo. I really look forward to July!

All the credit for making this event a success goes to my lovely wife, Karin Abbott-Hall. her efforts earned her the nickname, "Mother Hen". Special thanks to everyone who helped her pull off her first tournament!

My leg continues to mend and I can now walk a little. See you in July, along with this event's Top Team, the Hillsworths.
