A refreshing sense of peace and quiet was most evident as we arrived at John Ireland's "Paradise on the East Cape" on May 22nd. Shortly after walking on the property, Mr. and Mrs Kaeser from Seabeck, Washington exclaimed, "Sign us up for next year!"
The warmth and graciousness of the entire staff was immediate as John and general manager Gary Barnes-Webb greeted the arriving guests. This is a daily routine by them to assure guests everything is taken care of.
THE CHEFS
We were also pleasantly surprised to meet the hotel's chefs- Mike and Lisa Epsey, who have been in charge of the kitchen for the past four months. They have a total of 25 years culinary experience between them, and both hold degrees in this field.
After visiting the East Cape several times over the last two years, they decided to quit the "rat race" of San Francisco and come here permanently. They were married here four months ago, and even baked their own wedding cake in the kitchen!
The evening meals were served and looked like one was dining at a high class restaurant. The desserts were delicious, and Mike visited the various diners during the evening meals to assure all was well.
Another pleasant surprise was Holly- the masseuse, who did an excellent job according to three guests in the hotel.
Rex and Jennifer Eads spent a lot of time in the kayaks and caught several reef and inshore fish.
