Jan 8-15, 2006    Hotel Las Brisas in Ixtapa

Ten anglers and three guests enjoyed the 8 days and 7 nights as Fish with Me returned to Mexico's "Jewel of the Pacific".

It was unanimous the "Las Brisas" is the finest and most beautiful spot in Ixtapa! Because of it's construction, being built back from the cliff, they have never suffered any damage from earthquakes. No other structure there can make that claim.

The service from the rooms to the 6 restaurants to all of the other services was amazing- quick and with a smile! One felt as if they were at home as we enjoyed the 70 to 85 degree weather, day and night.

While visiting the downtown plaza area, we were treated to an original sun worship dance, performed by the Panteca Cambios, who are currently performing in the LaCholle area near Zihuatanejo.

They often perform for contributions, and are always glad to pose for pictures.

This splendid creature could be observed from the breakfast area and was between 6 and 7 feet long. Iguana were nearly wiped out a few years ago, as they are reportedly excellent eating.

They are now protected and are flourishing in the local jungle, even in the trees next to the hotel.

The Dorado ignored us, much like they did in the East Cape this year. The anglers took a total of 31 small tuna and 21 Sailfish as shown here.

The seas were mild as always and at most there was a gentle rolling swell and no wind. This made for very pleasant fishing in the pangas, which most chose to use.
